Silver Swans in Northampton
Silver Swans is ballet for people aged 55 and over. Most of the dancers in our Northampton class started with no experience at all, and a good number of them hadn't been in a dance studio since school. Some had never set foot in one.
You don't need to be flexible, you don't need to be fit, you don't need to have danced before; you need shoes you can move in and about an hour to spare to have fun in.
Silver Swans
Silver Swans is a programme created by the Royal Academy of Dance specifically for older adults. It isn't a watered-down version of a class designed for younger bodies. It's built from the ground up around what an older body needs: the right pace, repetition, and exercises that work.
Teachers have to be separately trained and licensed by the Royal Academy of Dance to run it. Ours is Gemma, who has studied RAD ballet since she was four, is a qualified RAD ballet teacher, and spent her professional career in older adult social care. She has been part of Mes Amies for around ten years.
Classes cost £9 per person.
